AFTCO - Merchandise Operations Coordinator

Job Description:

AFTCO, the American Fishing Tackle Company, is seeking a Merchandise Operations Coordinator in Santa Ana, CA. The Merchandise Operations Coordinator is a newly created role within our growing company. The primary function is the coordination of the product development flow from origination to final production across all AFTCO and Guy Harvey clothing categories. The role is centered around the product development calendar, line plan, sampling process and the communication of each to AFTCO team members. This position will report to the Design Director and will work extensively with the major internal departments including: Design,Sales, Marketing, Production and Customer Service.

Responsibilities

Product Development Calendar Maintenance & Execution

  • Acting as the “traffic cop” between all parties involved in product development. This includes start to finish set-up, tracking, and internal communication of all style details and merchandising information.
  • Initiating the necessary meetings, processes and follow up to ensure that all parties are on track with the established development calendar dates and execution.
  • This complex role requires strong communication and organization skills. This position must be both the communicator and driver to ensure that all relevant product development details are recorded and conveyed to each team.

Company-wide Master Line Plan

  • Work with the Design Directors to develop and execute master line plans with the goal of improving existing planning processes with enhancements to team communication.
  • Make allowances for other product data files including: web feeds, GSX data, master B2B spreadsheets.
  • Utilizing the master line plan to facilitate the communication of all needed details for catalog execution by the in-house marketing team.
  • Regulate budget and SKU count throughout the line planning process.
  • Cultivate buy-in and establish agreement between design planning team and finance that support seasonal product initiatives and overall business goals.

Merchandising:

  • Work with Design Directors to help develop line plan based on past wholesale performance and seasonal trends.
  • Collect, coordinate, and summarize merchandising comments and observations from sales team and other outside staff, as well as consumer insights into relevant stories and concepts about our products.
  • Summarize feedback from Brand Managers and work with Design Directors on its implementation.
  • Work with internal cross-functional teams to provide the necessary details for company B2B site.
  • Coordinate the sample process from start to finish, including the development of a sample grid for each season and the delivery of samples to all who need them.
  • Establish the merchandise necessary for company show room, trade shows and other customer touch points.
  • Organize and document fit meetings to ensure that all details are appropriately executed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • In-house style master expert. Format and review style master details and product information for accuracy in our systems and maintain throughout the season.
  • Schedule and coordinate bimonthly production meetings.
  • Manage drops / carryovers / cut to sales lists and groups each season.

Job Requirements:

Desired Technical Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in wholesale product development experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational process.
  • Clothing merchandising and sportswear experience. Previous experience in purchasing, sales, or merchandising within the wholesale or retail business environment.
  • Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office, with heavy emphasis on Excel – Pivot Tables, Lookup functions, formulas, conditional formatting, etc.
  • Knowledge of clothing ERP systems, experience with Full Circle is a plus.
  • Knowledge of clothing B2B platforms is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of EDI protocol is a plus.
  • SPS Commerce (Edifice) retail sales tools is a plus.

Guy Harvey - Key Accounts Manager

Job Description:

AFTCO, the American Fishing Tackle Company, is seeking a Key Accounts Manager - Guy Harvey in Santa Ana, CA. The position works closely with, and reports to the Guy Harvey National Sales Manager to develop stratetic initiatives, seasonal assortments, and forecasts to achieve sales objectives with several of our large volume customers such as Academy Sports, Bass Pro Shops, West Marine, Beall's Department stores, and other leading outdoor retailers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Strategically drive Guy Harvey business by working directly with buyers and senior management at corporate offices of major national accounts to develop and negotiate contracts, broad corporate strategies and guidelines for positioning of the brand, purchase, merchandising, and promotion of Guy Harvey products.
  • Analysis of retail performance to identify additional sales opportunities.
  • Communicate regularly with product development, marketing, production and operations to evaluate sales forecasts and develop plans to fulfill requirements for availability of product as well as sales support tools, and visual merchandising and promotional materials.

Relationship

  • Travel to customers and other retail partners to develop and nurture strong, effective professional business relationships.
  • Make effective and persuasive presentations to achieve compelling results and positive customer action.
  • Schedule, organize and conduct key account meetings seasonally to present key initiatives, develop a marketing plan, and establish the buy for the season.
  • Attend account events and trade shows as needed.

Reporting:

  • Prepare analyses and reports to management that monitor, forecast and analyze sales activity and trends. Assess product and customer performance, sell through and profitability, inventory replenishment requirements, and market risks and opportunities.

Travel

  • This position requires frequent travel, including weekends. Most travel is outside the local area and overnight for trade show exhibition and account visits.

Job Requirements:

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Sales-focused with balanced ability to analyze complex financial data via ERP, SPS Commerce, Excel, B2B and other reporting and analytical tools.
  • Ability to effectively present strategic concepts, as well as products.
  • Willing to work long hours during preseason selling periods and other times when necessary.
  • Highly proficient computer skills required.
  • Self-starter with superior written and oral communication skills, and an innate attention to detail.

Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Frequent cross-country travel, including occasional weekends.
  • Willing and able to work additional hours when needed.
  • Bend, lift, open and move product and related office items varying in weight from 1 to 25lbs, depending on need.

Qualifications:

  • 5 Years' experience managing lifestyle apparel sales
  • Direct experience working with buyers from department stores such as Macy’s, Belk, JC Penney, etc.
  • Track record in delivering sales results through structured sales procedures and disciplines.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work successfully with a variety of people in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
