White seabass, yellowtail, halibut and calico bass are all highly sought after Southern California saltwater gamefish. White seabass and halibut have made a major comeback in California ever since the sportfishing community was successful in eliminating the use of destructive commercial gill nets in 1992. In addition a white seabass hatchery operated by the Hubbs/SeaWorld Research Institute is raising white seabass in captivity and releasing them back into the wild to help Mother Nature in her effort to restore this magnificent fish.
